BALLET
Puggle Petit Dancers Ages 2-3 Children learn the joys of dance and music through song and movement while learning group and individual participation. Classes are 30 minutes long and meet once a week.
Puggle Pre-School & Kindergarten Ballet Ages 4-5 Our programs for young children are designed to incorporate learning, creativity, musicality, and fun. Classes are taught by highly experienced teachers who all have a special love for teaching our youngest dancers. Classes meet once a week for 45 minutes – 1 hour a week.
Level I Ages 6-7 This begins our students in the graded levels. Basic terminology and technique are taught. Musicality, free movement and joy of dance are emphasized throughout the class. Prior ballet experience is not required. Classes meet once a week for one hour.
Level 2 Ages 7+ Level 2 Ballet focuses on nurturing techniques, vocabulary, as well as exercises which develop strength, coordination, and flexibility. Musicality and joy of dance are continuously emphasized throughout the class. Introduction to character dance. Prior dance experience is recommended but not required. Classes meet once a week for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Level 3 and 4 Ages 8+ Level 3 & 4 Ballet focus on technique including core stability, weight placement, turnout, and line while continuing to encourage creativity and the joy of dance. Free movement and character dance are explored. Prior dance experience required. Classes meet twice a week for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Level 5 Ages 10+ Level 5 Ballet focuses more intensely on technique both at the barre and center while continuing to recognize and reward the awareness of artistry and dynamics. Female students are eligible for pointe work. Ballet classes meet twice a week for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Pointe classes meet once a week for up to 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Ballet A Ages 12+ Ballet A is the first level in our pre-professional program. The curriculum is designed for the dedicated dance student. Students are required to attend 2 ballet classes per week and are eligible for pointe work.
Ballet B, C & D Focused on pre-professional oriented students, these classes emphasize commitment, artistic integrity, performance quality, and technical excellence. Students in these levels are required to attend 2 ballet classes and 1 pointe class per week.
CONTEMPORARY
Contemporary 1 Ages 6-8 For students who are new to contemporary or for students under the age of nine who have studies contemporary for one year. Contemporary dance combines modern dance with ballet and lyrical elements. 45 minutes, once weekly.
Contemporary 2 Ages 9-11 Level I Contemporary is for returning students who have a ballet background, and beginner students ages 10+ with a ballet background. Contemporary dance combines modern dance with ballet and lyrical elements. 45 minutes, once weekly.
Contemporary 3 Ages 11+ Class focuses on the development of improvised movement facilitated through a variety of creative explorations including body mapping, body mind centering, levels, shape, and dynamics. 1 hour, once weekly.
Senior Contemporary 14+ For advanced students with a strong ballet background. Advanced contemporary classes approach the work with risk, athleticism, abandon, breath, weight, focus, and intention. 1 hour, once weekly.
Adult Contemporary
For beginner through advanced dancers 18+, this class combines modern dance with ballet and lyrical elements. 45 mins – 1 hour, once weekly.
JAZZ
Jazz I Ages 6-9 For students with previous training in ballet or jazz, as well as new students. The class begins with a warm-up, isolations and stretching. Jazz vocabulary is expanded. Students learn fundamental jazz steps and combinations. 45 minutes, once weekly.
Jazz II Ages 10+ For students with previous training in dance, as well as students new to dance and new to jazz. Classes begin with a warm-up, isolations and floor sequences followed by combinations to contemporary music. 45 minutes, once weekly.
Jazz III Ages 11+ For students with previous experience. Classes begin with a warm-up, isolations and floor sequences. Elements of the class include: classic jazz, musical theater and street/funk. 45 minutes once weekly.
Jazz 4 This class is for dancers with technical proficiency and thorough understanding of vocabulary. Classes begin with a warm, isolations and floor sequences followed by combinations to contemporary music. Elements of the class include: classic jazz, musical theater and street/funk. 1 hour, once weekly.
TAP
Tap I Ages 6-9 For students with past tap training, and students 8+ who are new to tap. Classes build on the fundamental skills of tap including technique, musicality and rhythmic awareness. 45 minutes, once weekly.
Tap II Ages 10-14 For students with past tap training, and students ages 10+ with some dance experience. Classes include technique, rhythm work, as well as moving in space and combinations. 45 minutes, once weekly.
Tap III Ages 12-14 For students with dance training and tap experience. Class emphasizes technique through warm-up, across the floor, tap turns and combination. Classes focus on intricate rhythms and fun footwork to create challenging, musical, and entertaining choreography. 45 minutes, once weekly.
Tap 4 This class aims to push the limits of every student as both a dancer and a musician. Focuses on technique through challenging drills with emphasis on clarity, time, and musicality in order to develop the strongest possible technical range for each student. 1 hour, once weekly.
HIP HOP
This dynamic and energetic course is designed to introduce students to the fundamental techniques and styles that define hip hop dance. Dancers will be introduced to a solid foundation in hip hop dance techniques including, body isolations, popping, locking, and intricate footwork.
This class will help enhance musicality and rhythm by learning to synchronize movements with various hip hop beats and styles. Dancers will gain self-confidence and stage presence through performance-focused exercises and routines.
